A slot bonus can add promotional credit, spins or a later reward to an account. The useful comparison goes beyond the percentage: qualifying payment, wagering base, eligible games, stake limit, expiry and cash-out conditions determine what the offer means. Promotional credit and money available to withdraw are different balances.
This hub explains the main bonus types and how to compare their rules. The worked figures are hypothetical unless expressly identified as an operator’s published headline. Use the category guides below for a particular promotion, and the withdrawals guide for the separate payment stages.
Australian context: ACMA identifies online slots and casino-style services among illegal online gambling services offered to people in Australia. A bonus, accessible website or payment option does not establish Australian authorisation. Read ACMA’s consumer guidance. The examples here do not confirm eligibility or recovery protection for an Australian account.
Two published welcome-promotion examples
These examples were checked against the operators’ public pages on 6 November 2026. A published headline is one part of an offer; the specific coupon rules and applicable account terms still matter. This is a comparison of stated conditions, without personal deposit or withdrawal testing.

| Casino | Headline and conditions to check | Offer information |
|---|---|---|
| Fair Go | 300% + 50 free spins
Published code: 300-WELCOME
The landing page names Cash Bandits 2 for the spins. General terms use 30 times deposit plus bonus for deposit-bonus wagering unless the offer states otherwise. Check the qualifying payment, currency, stake limit and separate spin conditions. |

| Uptown Pokies | 400% + 100 free spins
Published code: BANDIT4000
The deposit match has a stated ceiling. The landing page says 40 times rollover without defining the calculation base there. Confirm the currency, ceiling and applicable wagering base rather than combining that number with a different general rule. |

The percentages above are conditional promotional headlines, not cash returns. A capped match is not an unlimited match. Check the actual account currency and special terms before interpreting a dollar amount, and do not assume the deposit-credit conditions also describe free-spin winnings.
Choose a guide by bonus type
Welcome bonuses
A new-player promotion can match a qualifying payment or combine credit and spins. Compare each stage of a multi-payment package separately; a package maximum is not necessarily the credit attached to the first payment.
No deposit bonuses
A promotional grant may require no initial deposit to receive it. Verification, wagering, expiry and cash-out restrictions can still apply. The phrase does not mean an unrestricted cash balance or guaranteed money to withdraw.
Free spins without a deposit
Compare the game, number of spins, assigned stake and treatment of winnings. A spin count alone does not identify cash value. Receiving spins and making their winnings eligible for withdrawal are different events.
Bonus codes
A code identifies a particular offer or claim route. Check eligibility and when it must be entered. An accepted code does not establish that a payment qualified, all rewards were credited or the wagering requirement was completed.
Existing-player bonuses
Returning-player offers may be public, targeted or tied to an account programme. An email sent to another customer is not proof that your account qualifies. Compare availability and conditions with the actual account invitation.
Reload bonuses
A later qualifying payment can receive another match under a new promotion. Its base, maximum, eligible methods and deadline can differ from a welcome offer. Earlier participation does not establish eligibility for every later reload.
Cashback offers
Check the definition of eligible loss, calculation period, cap and payment form. Cashback can be promotional credit with further conditions. A percentage of qualifying losses is different from a percentage of every deposit.
Low-wagering bonuses
A smaller multiplier needs to be read with its base and other restrictions. Compare the resulting turnover, contribution rates, stake rules and withdrawal conditions. A low headline number alone does not establish the better arrangement.
Names can overlap. A welcome package may include a no-deposit component, while a returning-player reward may be a reload or cashback credit. Identify each component’s conditions instead of applying one description to the whole account.
Calculate wagering from the stated base
A wagering requirement describes qualifying turnover under the promotion’s rules. The multiplier is incomplete without identifying the amount it multiplies. It may apply to bonus credit alone, deposit plus bonus, spin winnings or another defined balance. Those calculations produce different totals even when the advertised multiplier is identical.
Hypothetical comparison: a payment of A$50 receives an A$50 bonus. Thirty times the bonus alone is A$1,500. Thirty times deposit plus bonus is A$3,000. The same 30-times headline therefore describes twice as much turnover in the second example. These figures are not a quote for the promotions listed above.
Turnover is the sum of qualifying stakes, rather than the amount of fresh money that must be deposited. It is also different from losses. An account can lose its usable balance before completing the requirement. A calculated turnover total does not predict winnings, the money needed to finish, or the chance of reaching withdrawal eligibility.
Game contribution changes the calculation again. If a hypothetical game contributes only 20% towards an A$3,000 remaining requirement, A$15,000 of stakes would be needed to supply that contribution, assuming all those stakes qualify. A game with zero contribution would make no progress. Excluded games can have further consequences under the applicable terms.
A match percentage and a match ceiling are separate. For a hypothetical 200% match capped at A$100, an A$25 payment creates A$50 of bonus credit, while an A$80 payment reaches the A$100 ceiling. The latter produces A$180 of displayed deposit-plus-bonus value before other activity; it does not create A$180 of withdrawable cash.
General and offer-specific terms need to be read together. Fair Go’s published general terms provide a default deposit-plus-bonus base with exceptions. Uptown’s linked landing page uses its own rollover figure without defining the base on that page. Where a figure is ambiguous, request the calculation in writing rather than silently attaching another offer’s base to it.
For the wider terminology, see our bonus terms guide. Keep the offer version, credited amount and stated requirement together. A progress bar without the underlying calculation is less informative than a record explaining what each qualifying stake counts towards.
Compare spin value and the treatment of winnings
A free spin is a game event under an offer, not a fixed cash prize. Its assigned stake, eligible game and game rules matter. Twenty hypothetical spins at A$0.10 have A$2 of total assigned stake; twenty at A$0.50 have A$10. Neither figure is the amount the player is certain to win.
Check whether the promotion supplies all spins together or releases them in batches. A daily batch, a claim deadline and a deadline for using the spins are separate conditions. Unclaimed spins and credited winnings can also have different expiry rules. A large total spread across several days should not be presented as immediately available.
Winnings may enter a restricted promotional balance with their own wagering and cash-out terms. Identify the eligible amount, multiplier and any maximum that can become cash. Do not transfer the deposit-match rules to spin winnings simply because the two rewards appear in one welcome headline.
The actual game version is relevant too. A title in a screenshot does not establish that every version, stake setting or account can use the reward. Our slot-game guide explains feature categories; the promotion must identify the game and settings assigned to its spins.
Eligibility, qualifying payments and coupon codes
Compare the qualifying account, permitted region, account currency and promotion period. An offer can distinguish new customers from returning customers and apply account or household restrictions. Those are conditions to check in the actual terms, rather than a universal one-per-household rule that should be copied into every promotion.
The minimum needed to receive a bonus can differ from a cashier’s ordinary minimum payment. A payment method being accepted does not prove promotional eligibility. The banking hub compares method types, while the offer must identify any excluded funding route or qualifying-payment requirement.
For a coupon, establish the correct offer name, code, claim sequence and confirmation. Some promotions require an opt-in or code at a particular stage. Follow the actual instructions rather than assuming a code can be added retrospectively. Keep the confirmation if the credited reward differs from what the account was offered.
A missing reward needs a record of the account invitation, qualifying action, time and response. Do not submit repeated payments to diagnose an unexplained claim. Ask whether the issue concerns eligibility, the payment, the code, reward crediting or a later wagering condition. Each stage requires a different explanation.
Read what happens if an offer is declined or cancelled. Cancellation might remove promotional credit or affect related winnings under the applicable conditions. Do not assume that pressing cancel leaves every other balance unchanged. Ask for a balance breakdown before changing an unresolved promotion.
Eligible games, contribution and maximum stakes
A promotion can distinguish games that qualify, games that contribute at reduced rates and games that are prohibited during bonus play. These are different categories. A game contributing nothing is not necessarily a permitted way to preserve a bonus balance; the terms must establish what play is allowed.
The maximum promotional stake can be lower than a game’s technical betting limit. A visible button accepting a larger stake does not establish that the stake complies with bonus terms. Fair Go’s and Uptown’s general rules include default bonus-play stake limits with possible offer-specific exceptions. Check the currency and current rule applying to the exact reward.
Special features need attention. A bonus purchase, gamble feature or simultaneous game session can have its own treatment under an offer. A game being available in the lobby is not evidence that every feature is eligible for promotional play. Our bonus-buy guide covers the feature concept; offer restrictions still need a separate check.
Do not assume a high published RTP overrides a bonus restriction or predicts the outcome of a short session. RTP concerns a long-run theoretical return under a game’s rules, while promotional eligibility concerns the operator’s offer. The RTP guide explains that distinction. Neither an RTP figure nor a wagering calculation guarantees that the usable balance will survive the required play.
Bonus credit, cash-out limits and withdrawal
A balance can contain deposited funds, promotional credit, restricted winnings and pending withdrawals. Request a breakdown rather than treating the headline total as one pot of cash. Completing wagering can be one condition among several; verification, eligible receiving methods and payment limits can still need to be resolved.
Cashable and non-cashable bonus arrangements differ. Under a non-cashable arrangement, the original bonus may be removed under the applicable withdrawal rules. Uptown’s current general terms say bonuses are removed after a withdrawal request unless otherwise stated. The relevant promotion must establish whether that rule applies to its balance and what amount remains after removal.
For a hypothetical illustration, a displayed A$180 balance that includes A$50 of removable bonus credit would leave A$130 after that removal, before other conditions or charges. That subtraction does not confirm eligibility, account approval or a bank receipt. It simply explains why displayed balance and requested cash can differ.
A maximum cash-out condition is different from the largest bonus available. A deposit match can have one ceiling, while convertible winnings or withdrawal requests have another. An offer saying no maximum cashout still needs its wagering, balance and receiving-method conditions checked; it is not a promise of unlimited winnings or payment approval.
Our withdrawal limits guide separates request maximums from periodic allowances. The withdrawals guide separates request, approval, release and receipt. A bonus being credited does not start every payment timetable, and a quick payment network does not establish the operator’s review time.
Reloads, cashback and repeat promotions
A repeat offer is a new set of conditions. Compare its qualifying payment, reward calculation, claim period and eligible account rather than assuming the welcome rules carry forward. A customer can receive an invitation without every future payment qualifying for a reward.
For cashback, identify the loss formula and period before multiplying a percentage. If hypothetical eligible losses are A$80 and cashback is 10%, the calculated reward is A$8 before any cap or further conditions. That is different from receiving 10% of all deposits. Returned funds, opening balances, remaining balances and bonuses can affect a provider’s defined calculation.
Check how the reward arrives. Cash, restricted bonus credit and spins have different uses and return conditions. A cashback label does not establish immediate bank withdrawal or remove a wagering requirement. The cashback guide focuses on those definitions; the reload guide covers later qualifying payments.
Repeated small offers should be considered together when tracking spending. Five hypothetical A$20 qualifying payments require A$100 of payments, before any fees or losses. Receiving several rewards does not make those payments costless. Keep an affordable limit across promotions instead of treating each coupon as a new budget.
Compare the complete offer before its percentage
A useful comparison records the qualifying payment, bonus cap, wagering base, contribution, maximum stake, expiry, permitted games, bonus-removal rule and cash-out conditions. Record the currency beside every amount. Keep deposit and spin components separate where their rules differ.
A lower multiplier can still describe more turnover. Thirty times a hypothetical A$100 base is A$3,000, while forty times an A$50 base is A$2,000. That does not make either example preferable on its own: permitted games, the stake rules, expiry and the treatment of winnings remain part of the comparison.
The option to decline a promotion is worth understanding before accepting it. Ask what conditions apply to ordinary deposited funds and whether an active offer changes their treatment. A larger promotional balance is not automatically useful if its restrictions do not fit the account holder’s intended spending limit or available time.
Our Responsible Gambling page provides support information. Keep bills and essential expenses separate from gambling spending, and do not increase payments to chase a reward, recover losses or finish a progress bar. A promotion is not income and does not make gambling risk-free.
Keep offer records and question release-payment demands
Keep the actual offer page or invitation, applicable terms, code, qualifying payment, credited components and expiry information together. If a reward is disputed, ask which condition applies and how the provider calculated the balance. A clear record is more useful than a screenshot showing only the original percentage.
Scamwatch describes fake gambling balances followed by demands for extra fees, taxes or repeated payments. Do not keep sending money to unlock supposed winnings. Contact the funding institution promptly if a scam is suspected, and be alert to follow-up offers demanding a recovery fee. See Scamwatch’s gambling-scam guidance.
Independently verify the service’s website and document-upload channel before sending account evidence. A request labelled verification does not establish legitimacy. Never supply passwords, one-time login codes, wallet recovery phrases or remote device access as ordinary evidence for a bonus enquiry.
This website explains public offer information and labelled arithmetic. It cannot approve claims, change account conditions or recover a disputed balance. Send factual corrections through Contact with a supporting source. Keep private account and identity documents with the verified provider handling the enquiry.
Slot bonus FAQs
No. A promotion can add credit, spins or another reward with conditions. Wagering, permitted games, expiry, bonus removal and cash-out rules can affect eligibility. A displayed promotional balance is different from funds approved and received through a withdrawal method. No. The operator’s applicable account and offer conditions need separate checking. ACMA identifies online slots and casino-style services among illegal online gambling services offered to people in Australia. A bonus headline, accessible page or payment logo does not establish Australian authorisation. It identifies the amount multiplied by the rollover figure. In a hypothetical example with a deposit of A$50 and bonus of A$50, thirty times bonus alone is A$1,500, while thirty times deposit plus bonus is A$3,000. The calculation is not a prediction of cost or winnings. Not necessarily. The game, assigned stake, spin deadlines and treatment of winnings need to be read in the actual offer. Winnings can have separate wagering or cash-out conditions. A spin count does not establish a fixed cash prize or unrestricted withdrawal. No. Compare the base as well as the multiplier. Thirty times a hypothetical A$100 base is A$3,000, while forty times an A$50 base is A$2,000. Game contribution and other restrictions also affect the comparison. No universal assumption is justified. An offer can distinguish eligible games, reduced contribution, prohibited play and maximum stakes. A lobby listing or a game accepting a larger stake does not establish compliance with the active promotion’s conditions. No. Check the eligible-loss definition, calculation period, cap and reward form. A cashback credit can have promotional conditions. Ten per cent of hypothetical eligible losses of A$80 is A$8, but that arithmetic does not establish the reward offered to any account. No. Code acceptance, eligibility, a qualifying payment, reward crediting and later wagering are different stages. Keep the actual offer and confirmation, and ask which condition explains a missing reward rather than making repeated payments to investigate it. It depends on the applicable promotion. Some arrangements remove non-cashable bonus credit when a withdrawal is requested or processed, depending on their terms. A balance containing that credit is not necessarily the eligible cash amount. Check the specific removal and cancellation rules before changing an active offer. Scamwatch warns about fake gambling balances followed by demands for fees, taxes or repeated payments. Do not keep paying to unlock supposed winnings. Contact the funding institution promptly if a scam is suspected, and be cautious of further recovery-fee demands. Is a slot bonus the same as money I can withdraw?
